A WICKFORD bus driver is hoping his new business venture will have customers rolling in. Simon Holder has spent thousands of pounds kitting out his party bus to tempt groups of up to 16 to travel in comfort and style to airports, sporting events, nightclubs and days out. Simon, who has 20 years experience in the business, has founded Simon’s Bus with his wife Helen. They have equipped a mini-bus with a plasma TV screen, DVD player, disco lights, tinted windows, a sound system and satellite navigation. A HUSBAND and wife team dedicated to the sunny side of public transport have become the first members of the Basildon Chamber of Commerce. Husband and wife team Simon and Helen Holder run Simon's Bus, a Wickford-based minibus operation. The pair were one of more than 190 business people who put their business cards into a pot for the prize draw. Helen said: "We'd discovered the benefits of being chamber members by talking to people at the event, so it was a great thrill when our card was the one drawn. We get a year's membership for free."

Simon's Bus hit the headlines in May when Simon and Helen launched their special late-night service, dedicated to getting vulnerable women and young people home after a night's clubbing. Helen said: "A service like ours can do a lot of good on the streets. We set youngsters down on their own doorstep, so we're particularly reassuring for parents." Denise Rossiter, of the Essex Chamber, said: "Simon's Bus is obviously a delightful and innovative Firm, and we're very pleased to have them aboard as our first Basildon member."
